Purim Unit
Hello Families,
What an exciting time it has been in our classroom, Purim has really brought out all of the sillies, smiles, laughter, creativity, and just overall joy and happiness into our room. In this unit we explored in depth about the story of Purim, and different things we can learn about during this time such as, making Hamantashen, giving Tzedakah, giving Mishloach Manot to our friends, reading the Megillah and continuously thanking Hashem for all the small blessings that we receive everyday. Here are some highlights to our amazing time exploring and diving head first into the Purim unit.
The Purim Story
A long time ago in Shushan there was a nice king named Achashveirosh. His queen's was named Vashti. He made a big party and invited all of the people of Shushan to the party.
Guard: “Here Ye Here Ye, king Achashveirosh would like to invite you to a big party at the palace” King Achashveirosh wanted Vashti to come to the party but when Vashti looked into the mirror she saw red spots on her face and said that she would not come. King Achashveirosh got very angry and said that she can’t be the queen any more. Achashveirosh needed a new queen. He found a beautiful Queen who’s name was Esther. Esther didn’t tell Achashveirosh that she was Jewish. King Achashveirosh had a prime minister who’s name was Haman. He was a wicked man. He told everyone to bow down to him. Eshter’s uncle, Mordechai, refused to bow down to Haman and this made Haman so mad that he decided to send Mordechai and all of the Jews far away. Mordechai told Esther that Haman wants to send the Jewish people far away and that now is the time to tell Achashveirosh that you are Jewish and that he should save your people. Queen Esther invited Achashveirosh and Haman to a party and at the party she told Achashveirosh that Haman wants to send her and her people far away. Achashveirosh realized that Haman is a wicked man and he sent haman far away.
