In this unit we talked about our community helpers and all of the very important roles each helper has. In our classroom we focused our class project on turning our dramatic area into a Doctor's office and really trying to understand the different types of doctors that help and assist us each day. It was really fun to see the children's reaction, when they obtained the titles of doctors, they took their rolls very seriously and ensured that each child in the class was well taken cared of.
In this unit we really developed our appreciation for literacy and math! We did lots of activities using special tools and creating our own look alike materials! We made a graph based on the color of our hair and eyes. The children learned so much about themselves as we really started to ask what they wanted to be when they grow up, we got a lot of insight and learned new little traits about the children and saw skills grow in different community helper jobs.
