Hello Pre Nursery 2 Parents,
Welcome back! We are so happy to be back at school and spending time with all of your amazing children.
Before winter break we enjoyed a fun and exciting theme about our favourite authors. Our first book was "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". We made a beautiful butterfly "mirror" picture and we made fuzzy, pompom caterpillars. The children also had the opportunity to play with magnetic letters and we all found the first letters of our names. We also made playdough letters and tried to spell our names out of playdough. It was so exciting to read the book and count all of the things that the caterpillar ate each day as he got bigger and bigger.
One of our favourite songs:
On Monday one red apple,
On Monday one red apple,
On Monday one red apple,
That's what the caterpillar ate.
On Tuesday two green pears,
On Tuesday two green pears,
On Tuesday two green pears,
That's what the caterpillar ate.
On Wednesday three purple plums,
On Wednesday three purple plums,
On Wednesday three purple plums,
That's what the caterpillar eats.
On Thursday four red strawberries,
On Thursday four red strawberries,
On Thursday four red strawberries,
That's what the caterpillar eats.
On Friday five oranges,
On Friday five oranges,
On Friday five oranges,
That's what the caterpillar eats.
On Saturday too much food,
On Saturday too much food,
On Saturday too much food,
That's what the caterpillar eats.
On Sunday one green leaf,
On Sunday one green leaf,
On Sunday one green leaf,
That's what the caterpillar eats.
The next book we read was "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom". It was such a fun book to read and the children loved looking at the letters and singing ABCD..... We made beautiful trees with wooden letters. As the children made this craft they had the opportunity to choose which letters they wanted to add to their trees and we reviewed the names of each letter they attached to their pictures.
The third book we read was "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish". The children all worked together to create a beautiful fish bowl and then they each had the opportunity to decorate their own fish.
This was a really fun, creative and educational theme for the children and they really enjoyed reading some of their favourite books.
We would like to thank Ben's mom, Rami's mom and Natan's mom for coming in and reading some very special books to our class. We really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to come and share a story with the class.
We are so excited to be back at school and we are enjoying our new theme "Winter". We will also be doing some wonderful things at school to celebrate Tu B'Shevat.
More fun and excitement is on the way.
As always, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful children with us.
Morah Shelley and Morah Shani
