Pre-Nursery 1 All About Me Unit

Shalom Families!

Our all about me unit has been so much fun, who doesn't enjoy learning and exploring all things about themselves? The children were very excited daily to learn something new or observe themselves and their peers.

We created an emotion chart to keep track of our morning mood, the children were very excited to come in and share how they were feeling each day.

We celebrated our awesome Dads, Abbas and Zaidies  by hosting a Donuts with Dads event that was a complete success,  the children loved having their special someone with them and enjoyed teaching them how we do things at school!

Playground fun!
During outdoor time during this unit, we spent a lot of time finding squirrels and bugs, observing the way they move and if they have similar facial features like we do. We enjoyed some art emotion with shaving cream, we drew the emotions with shaving cream on the mirror and allowed the children to add unique and special features to the mirror by spreading the shaving cream and creating our own images of what a happy or sad face should look. Here are a few pictures of us having fun on the playground:

We've had nice days filled with learning, we had our 5 minute brain gym challenge as we went through short individual activities meant to get the brain exercising. An 11 piece sea animal puzzle which enhances fine motor and cognitive skills, A pompom sorting activity, children use tongs to transfer pompoms from one basket to the other enhance eye hand coordination skills as well as their palmer grasp skills as they practice to squeeze the tongs open and closed and retrieving each pom pom. We also had a math activity with pompoms by matching the correct pompoms to the digit and circles on a log and with help from their morahs to count and add how many pompoms are on each log. This activity enhanced their cognition skills, using their brain to count and correct match the pompoms to the circles. Lastly we had a geometric stacker with coloured wooden pieces, this activity enhances size and shape recognition, hand and eye coordination and problem solving skills, it encourages visual discrimination, and sorting skills.

Body Tracing fun!

The child were encouraged to participate in a body tracing activity and together decorated their body, clothes and facial features.

We had an excited experiment as we begin to transition into our fall unit, we used a few of our fall object to see what would sink and what would float in our sensory bin filled with water. The children were excited to see the objects that stayed afloat and pointed and laughed at each out come. This experience enhanced their cognitive skill by experimenting with cause and effect, and problem solving skills.
