We have been having the best time during this unit, it has created such a happy and vibrant vibe into the classroom. The class is showered with warmth and smiles laughter, it has been great learning about the great Hunukkah stories about the brave maccabees. We made beautiful dreidels and Menorahs and the children also made beautiful Chanukah crowns and Chanukiot.
We also had the chance to explore different colours and textured while creating and decorating our Hanukkah pieces.
During the Hanukkah unit we also enjoyed creating our very own Menorohs.
We ate a lot of really delicious snacks for Hanukkah .
We Made Dreidels out of Cd's and markers, decorated them with paint and stickers.

We have had an awesome time celebrating Hanukkah, so much learning and understanding the history behind it all.
Chanukah songs:

He and his soldiers chased Antiochus away
They found a little shemen, it was quite a sight

The Chanukah Story:
A long, long, long, long time ago there was a mean king named Antiochus. He was so mean and he did not have nice manners. He made the Bait Hamikdash so dirty and messy. He threw dirt on the floor and broke so many things and he didn’t even tidy up. He didn’t want the Jewish people to celebrate Shabbat... no challah, no grape juice, and no candles... he was so mean. But... Yehuda Macabee and his brothers made a Jewish army who were brave and strong and they fought and won. They sent Antiochus and his people away. Hashem helped them win the war. They cleaned up the Beit Hamikdash and found some oil to light the menorah and Hashem helped them again and the menorah burned for 8 days just in time to get new oil.
Amazing Unit!
Spinning dreidels and coming together learning the stories and singing Hanukkah songs were some of our favorite times. We hope you loved our Hanukkah concert, we enjoyed sharing our work with you all.
