The past few weeks the Pre Nursery class has been gaining a greater understanding of community helper occupations, such as police officers, chefs, medical professionals and firefighters. The children have had so much fun imagining themselves in these important roles, and incorporating their learning into our literacy, math, science, sensory and art activities! Here are some of the ways the children have learned about community helpers in the classroom!

Every Dr. in training needs their own doctor kit! using real world items such as bandaids adds a level of realism that help the children gain a deeper understanding for learning! We love talking about how "the doctor fixes our booboos" while pointing to our beautiful kits with bandaids

With our police badges we were able to foster children’s learning through the use of music and arts, we learned a new song about our special community helper police men and when we sing our song we use our wonderful badges! Chef Dress up!
Participating in dramatic play with costumes and acting out behaviors of community helpers, children develop important social/emotional skills and are more comfortable with the role and uniform of our community helpers.
