Purim

Dear parents,

These past two weeks we have been so busy learning the Purim story and about the 4 Mitzvas of Purim. We especially enjoyed watching a purim puppet show that Morah put on for us each day.

We illustrated and wrote our own Megillahs which we can't wait to read with you. We also made self portraits which are on display in the classroom and each child wrote their name. It is amazing to see the progress that the children have made in their writing this year!

We learned about noise makers and filled eggs with different items, such as salt, beads etc. to make shakers. We then listened closely to the sounds and tried to match the eggs that sounded similar.

We painted Purim Puppet Theaters and coloured puppets which we can use to act out the Purim story at home!

As a sensory and fine motor activity we used tweezers to find the gems in the moon sand, and manipulated playdough with colourful sticks.

We painted spoons and then added beads and bells to create our graggers.

We used sticks on contact paper to shape houses and palaces.

We graphed our favourite Hamantash fillings and chocolate filling was hands down the most popular in our class!

We baked the most delicious Hamantashen which we filled and shaped on our own!

For Aleph Bet we painted letter Mem with "Mayim" rain drops.

On Friday we had so much fun at our Purim Masquerade!

Here are some of the songs we have been singing for Purim:
1. There is a happy Holiday and Purim is his Name-o
P-U-R-I-M
P-U-R-I-M
P-U-R-I-M and Purim is his name-o

2.
Chag Purim
Chag Purim
Chag gadol layehudim

Masechot, ra'ashanim,
Zmirot verikudim.

Hava narishah - rash, rash, rash,
Hava narishah - rash, rash, rash,
Hava narishah - rash, rash, rash,
Bara'ashanim.

3. One day I went to Shushan town
And there I saw a funny clown
His hands were up, his head was down
A funny, funny Purim clown
He clapped 1,2,3,4,5,6 and then he did some funny tricks
And then he lay down in a heap
Pretending to be fast asleep

4. Nash Nash a Hamentash
Let's make a Hamentash now
Nash Nash a Hamentash
Let's make a Hamentash now
Roll and roll the dough with me
Roll and Roll and you will see
Haman's hat was just like that
Let's make a hamantash now.

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom and Happy Purim!!
